Broken
Drawings
by Emily Atkinson
Ms.
Atkinson is an artist and teacher originally from Austin, Texas, who
has been living in Tokyo for over a year. Her work has been
shown in various galleries throughout Texas, and has spanned many
media including sculpture, jewelry, electronic media, and installation.
Her
current pieces are Prismacolor on wood, focusing on items in need
of repair. The maps in the backgrounds anchor these objects
in place – and aid in explaining the overall story. Some
of these objects literally need to be fixed; some of them are indicative
of a bigger umbrella concept that necessitates change. A few
are very personal, and all of them have some link to Ms. Atkinson's
life or travels.
These
pieces will be on display in the bar area for the month of May, with
an Opening Reception on Thursday, May the 1st, at 7:00 pm.

Spicer said "This workshop stems from a simple idea: you can't
talk
(or write) straight unless you can think straight. And clear,
coherent
thinking demands not so much genius as structure".
Adrienne
will give an overview Think on Your Feet and participants
will
